March 2009

Well the end of February/beginning of March was quite a hectic time at our house. Not only were we getting ready for our yearly sojourn to the Arizona Desert, but after two feet of snow and three days of 50 degree weather our basement flooded. What a mess! For about three days John and I worked in shifts of every 1 1/2 hours running shop-vacs to clean up puddles of water flowing into the basement.

Finally when the water receded a bit and after two days of drying out, we rented a jackhammer and John installed a sump pump in my pantry that is below the stairs. The pump ran for about three days to get all the ground water out from around our house. A little uneasy still, we left for our week-long vacation to Arizona.

It was so nice to get to the warm weather. The girls had fun in their sand pile. The weather was just perfect... 70s and 80s. We decided to take our pup, Bella, with us this year. We were not out of the car 5 min before she got into the Choia stickers. (The worst there are) but she held still and let us pull them out with pliers. This year, John's Mom and Dad had put a hot tub out on their bedroom patio. The girls thought this was AWSOME!. I'll send along pics. When we returned home, I was worried about the basement, but much to our relief everything was dry and really not as bad as was thought before leaving.
P.S. YOu will see Rhiannon in her new glasses. We told her that it only makes her look smarter.

Hope everyone had a good March. We are hoping for a relatively quite April.

February 1st

Well February is here! Winter seems to have settled in with its sunny days mixed with winter storms. We do not have as much snow as last year, but maybe more will come. We keep pretty busy with Rhiannon doing swimming twice a week, Morgan in gymnastics, and John is taking guitar lessons; hoping to pick back up where he left off years ago. Me... I'm doing good if I have time to get on Wii Fit once or twice a week. (It just seems as if there is not enough time!) Wanted to say HI to everyone and hope all are doing well. I'll try to get some pictures on here soon. About the only thing that has happened in the last month.... Morgan got her ears pierced. She is getting so big I want to cry. The time just seems to fly by. Love to all Amy.

First blog of the new year

HI.. Here's hoping everyone had a good New Years and holidays. I'm trying to get back to some sort of a of a regular schedule. On the 31st, I got a new computer. Since then, I've been trying to install my work programs. I would not have thought it would be so hard. I got my North Carolina doctor's things to come up just fine, but my software for the Utah company has been another matter. Because my supervisor was off work on the 2nd (Friday) I could not talk to her about it until Monday, so I was stuck shuffling from one computer to the other to get my weekend work done. On Monday I talked to her and that is when the trouble started. She had me deactivate their software from my old computer to install it on the new one. After four days of talking with her... talking to her computer guru (at his work)... and much frustration on my end, on Thurs afternoon we (Ryan-computer guru) and I came to the conclusion that my new computer cannot run the software. My new computer has a 64-bit processor and the software is not compatible. So now.... I was stuck trying to get the software to reload on my old computer. This took another whole day. By the end of Friday, though, I was back up and running. I guess I'm just going to have to wait until their software catches up to my computer. GEESH-and I thought getting a new computer was a good thing!. Oh-Well, I'm back to shuffling, but at least I have a game-plan for next week. The girls are good. Swimming, Piano, and Gymnastics start back up next week. I know I'll be plenty busy. Hope everyone had a good week.
